Matisse Software Brings Microsoft LINQ to the Post-Relational World.

Mountain View, CA - October 12, 2009 – Matisse Software today announces the immediate availability of the Matisse native LINQ to SQL provider, a new component of the Matisse .NET solution.

Language INtegrated Query (LINQ) is the most notable extension of the .NET framework that provides a more integrated manipulation of information stored into databases. LINQ to SQL is designed to retain the expressive power of the SQL language in the object programming environment while preserving the performance of query execution directly into the underlying database server. Unlike ADO.NET that require queries to be specified as text strings, the LINQ queries are expressed in native language syntax, and therefore benefit from compile-time verification and design-time features like IntelliSense.

LINQ to SQL integrates seamlessly with the Matisse .NET Entity framework. Unlike LINQ providers for relational database vendors that require an object-relational mapping layer, the Matisse LINQ provider natively maps to the Matisse .NET objects and benefits from unequaled performance provided by relationship navigation over SQL joins.

“LINQ is one of Microsoft's most exciting, powerful new development technologies in the .NET framework;” said Didier Cabannes, President and CEO of Matisse Software. “We are proud to bring to the market today Matisse LINQ, as it provides developers with the missing link to ease and accelerate the production of .NET applications.”

Matisse 8.3 offers an unequaled value proposition to .NET developers who require high performance on complex data.

Some of the specific advantages of Matisse 8.3 in the .NET platform include:

  • Reduced application complexity with direct object-to-object mapping.
  • Simplified and accelerated development through the fusion of native object support and SQL.
  • No schema modification downtime with dynamic schema evolution.
  • Support for virtually all object languages with extensive language bindings and an open API.

Matisse 8.3 supports the popular platforms with Windows, Linux, Java and .NET frameworks, SQL and XML standards, and a broad range of language bindings including Java, C++, C, C#, VB.NET, Python, Perl, PHP and Eiffel. Most language bindings are published as open source software.

Pricing and Availability
Matisse 8.3 is immediately available. Pricing starts at $1,920 for the Standard Edition. Pricing for the Lite Edition starts at $125. A free developer version can be downloaded from www.matisse.com
