Matisse Software Joins Rational Unified Partner Program Introduces New Software That Links Rational Rose With Matisse Database SAN FRANCISCO, CA – January 11, 2002 – Matisse Software Inc., today announced it has joined Rational Software’s Unified Partner Program and is developing Matisse Rose Link software that integrates its Matisse database with Rational Rose. The new Matisse Rose Link software reduces development time by allowing Matisse developers to model database schema using Rational Rose’s UML modeling tools. A preview version of Matisse Rose Link is available for immediate download. “Matisse is a welcome addition to the Rational Unified Partner Program, said David Abelow, Director of Alliance Marketing at Rational. “Matisse Rose Link makes it easy for object developers to use a single tool, Rational Rose, to design software applications and database models. We’re pleased to extend this new capability to our customers.” Matisse developers with Matisse Rose Link can use Rational Rose’s UML visual modeling tools to create database schemas, including those with complex relationships and inheritances. Once schemas are created, they can be automatically exported to Matisse where the appropriate language stubs for creating and accessing the database objects are generated in Java, C++, Eiffel and other languages. Developers can also use Rational Rose to edit existing Matisse data models, then export them back into Matisse. The preview version of Matisse Rose Link software supports data import and export between Matisse and Rational Rose. The final version, expected later this quarter, will take full advantage of Matisse’s online schema evolution and provide developers with round-trip schema evolution. The Matisse database management system (DBMS) is for object developers who want to rapidly develop and deploy object applications and Web services with faster performance, a lower total cost of ownership and 24x365 reliability. The first database ever to combine native object support with server-based SQL, Matisse has been optimized for Web services and network applications including IP networks, wireless, telecommunications, broadband and industrial control. “Our participation in Rational’s Unified Partner Program will help Matisse deliver products with higher value to our customers,” said Kal Krishnan, Matisse’s vice president of engineering. “By integrating Matisse with Rational Rose we are enabling our developers to lay out their databases visually. This gives them a powerful new design tool and reduces overall development time.” Rational Rose provides the power of visual modeling, component-based development, and round-trip engineering, along with unmatched support for the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Companies that are faced with having to quickly develop and deliver high-quality e-business applications are finding that Rational Rose helps them: build better software faster; identify, manage, and control change; and improve communication among the whole project team.
